Set Pieces are all about anticipation.

FREE KICK CONTROLS

FREE KICK TAKER

Use LEFT or RIGHT of to direct your free kick and curl of the ball, while UP and DOWN to adjust the trajectory. The power gauge will decide how powerful a pass is and how high the ball goes when shooting.

Press the button at the exact moment you shoot for a chance to hit a knuckle shot or dipping shot. Players with the "Knuckle Shot" and "Dipping Shot" skills have an enhanced ability to execute this shot.

Before taking the free kick, push the LEFT Button to display the guidelines and move players.

LINE UP 2 FREE KICK TAKERS

You can operate the Secondary Free Kick Taker, such as making Trick FK or Lay-Off, or positioning to the side of the ball. If the timing is right, you can disrupt the opponents' rhythm.

  • Enter the command while holding button to control the second free-kick taker. (You can pass the ball or take a shot.)
  • Depending on the location of the free kick, Attacking Operations won't be displayed or the instructions will be those for corner kicks.

DEFENDING AGAINST FREE KICKS

Players in the defensive wall can either jump (press ) or charge down a free kick (press ). Look at the ball's elevation before deciding what to do.

JUMP Hold until the free-kick taker strikes the ball.
Prevent Jump Hold until the free-kick taker strikes the ball.
CHARGE DOWN until the free-kick taker strikes the ball.

GOALKEEPER’S POSITION

When defending Set Pieces, you can hold down in time with the kick to make your goalkeeper edge towards the near post in anticipation of the shot coming that way.

Near Positioning Hold until the free-kick taker strikes the ball.

PENALTIES

PENALTY TAKER

Like free kicks, the power gauge can be used as an indication as to the shot’s velocity and accuracy. While a chipped penalty can be easily saved if read by the keeper, it is still a very effective way to surprise him. Also, the Trajectory Guide is displayed while holding and indicates the direction of the shot.

Push to adjust position (until the penalty taker strikes the ball). Push before the ball is kicked to react to hard shots or after to react to softly taken shots.

For corner kicks, the attacking team can choose from 4 normal corners and 4 short corners while the defending team can choose from 3. Try to select the strategy most appropriate for your players' strengths and the nature of the opposition. Additionally, adjusting your Attack/defense Level affects how many players will stand ready for the ball in front of the goal.
